AMA performed a rapid study to assess the trade space for a Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (NTP) flight demonstration. The study incorporated inputs from nine industry partners across the reactor, engine, and spacecraft sectors to develop nine reactor concepts, six engine designs, and four spacecraft concepts to represent the landscape of options that would meet mission and test objectives for a flight demonstration. In addition to designs, cost, schedule, and risk assessments were performed along with regulatory and CONOPS assessments and a comparison of benefits and risks when comparing a flight demonstration with engine ground testing.
