We would like to add an Aerodynamics Engineer to our on-site team. The incumbent will support aerodynamic database development in support of NASA’s Constellation Program at NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA.

Job Description

The successful applicant will be involved in aerodynamic analyses of the Ares Flight Test Vehicle at the Vehicle Analysis Branch of NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA. Job duties include:

  • Aerodynamic database development.
  • Integration of aerodynamic database into flight mechanics tools/simulations.
  • Wind tunnel and CFD data analysis.
  • Flight performance analysis at subsonic, transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic flow regimes.
  • Use of visualization tools.
  • Providing technical documentation of analysis and study results. Briefing results to the client or other groups as necessary.

Relevant Experience

  • A high level of motivation and excellent communication skills.
  • An aerospace engineering background with strong skills in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.
  • Familiarity with aerodynamic analysis tools like APAS and DATCOM.
  • A passion for aerodynamics and atmospheric flight.

Education and Qualifications

  • BS or MS in aerospace/aeronautical/mechanical engineering, or equivalent. Advanced degrees a plus.
  • Candidates with 2+ years industry experience desired.
  • Experience in Matlab, Fortran, C/C++ and script programming required.
  • Candidate must be willing to relocate to the Hampton, VA area.
